Description:
TOX4 encodes a member of a family of transcriptional factors that contain the highly conserved high mobility group box (HMG-box) region. TOX4 is a component of the PTW/PP1 phosphatase complex and plays a role in the regulation of cell cycle and fate. It is implicated in the control of chromatin structure. Sequence variation in this gene associated with stroke outcomes in patients with sickle cell disease.
