Description
In 1993, the BBV Foundation at that time, the Provincial Government of Biscay and the University of Deusto signed the agreement to establish the Chair in Law and the Human Genome, to which the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibersitatea joined in 1997. From its onset, the Director has been Professor Carlos María Romeo- Casabona.
The objectives attainment which were the basis of its creation has been the permanent criteria for the planning of its works, and despite all the time elapsed since the Chair was created, it continues to provide the basis for this Institution.
The Chair aims to be an Institution that fosters a rigurous and cross disciplinar analysis of the legal implications of the advances in molecular biology while at the same time making available the benefits of its work for the University Comunity, professionals of different fields and society at large.
