Description:
RPL18P9 (ribosomal protein L18 pseudogene 9) is one of the many processed pseudogenes of ribosomal proteins. Processed pseudogenes are formed by reverse transcription and integration of processed mRNA into the genome by L1 transposons. Cyclin D2 (CCND2) belongs to the group of D-type cyclins with a critical function in cell cycle progression and tumorigenicity. CCND2 antisense RNA 1 (CCND2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) first found in glioma malignancy. It promotes glioma cell proliferation through Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Genetic variance in the RPL18P9-CCND2-AS1 intergenic region associated with haematological parameters (e.g., red blood cell count).
