GeneID: 29

Names

Common Name: TOX Type: Gene
Chromosome: 8 (NC_000008.11) Locus: NG_011993.1 (TOX)
HUGO Symbol: TOX Full Name: thymocyte selection associated high mobility group box
Exons: 9 Introns: 8

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene contains a HMG box DNA binding domain. HMG boxes are found in many eukaryotic proteins involved in chromatin assembly, transcription and replication. This protein may function to regulate T-cell development. Polymorphisms in this gene were found to be strongly associated with the HbF response to hydroxyurea (HU) in sickle cell patients.

Synonyms: TOX1 , KIAA0808
